Module I Welcome & Overview (Pre-work)
Lesson Summary
Mental health is a state of emotional well-being and reasonable behavioral adjustment that enables us to cope with ordinary life demands and stresses. Myths and misconceptions about mental health are widespread and it is important to remember that mental health conditions can affect anyone, even very young children before they reach 14-years-old show warning signs. People with mental health conditions are not more likely to be violent than other people and are not necessarily lazy or have character flaws. Mental health conditions can be managed with treatments, services and community support systems that work. Friends and family can help someone in need by doing activities such as reaching out, helping to access services, and learning about mental health. Prevention can also help reduce the risk of developing a mental health condition. It is important to remember that we can all make a difference in helping our family and friends with mental health conditions.
